Ten year breast cancer survivor till June of 2010 learned that I am in stage 1V spread. My annaul mams didn't show anything suspicious. I am taking Famara which has kept the tumor marker below 38
My Onc said the Famara Pill will stop doing its job probably in three months and will take another type of pill. I didn't have chemo treatment due to I am ER Positive (fortunate me)
IHow are you feeling? It gives me a good feeling knowing that I too may live for a long time. I am healthy looking woman of age 61

Peggy, My mom beat cancer last year. I'm curious: How are you enjoying your life now? How did having cancer change you?

Congratutlations on ten years. My husband has been fighting cancer for two years. We try to keep our spirits high with prayer and living a normal life as possible. Was there ever a time your faith faltered? How did you get through the tough times?

Was your original pancreatic tumor an adenocarcinoma or another type of tumor?
|
Ellie from Crestwood
I have heard pancreatic cancer is the hardest to survive and have never known of anyone with Stage IV to survive, however I have never known of anyone who went to the the private hospital you went to. I have Stage 3C ovarian cancer which returned after almost 2 years of remission. I am now in treatment again. Is this hospital private pay only or will your normal insurance pay as I cannot afford to privately pay?

My husband was diagnosed 3 weeks ago with Stage IV. What type of therpy were you able to have and did you experience excessive Ascites during those therapies? They also had to place a stent in his kidney, tried to do one in his colon but were unable to; did you also have to have that. Is there anything I can do naturally to help keep his WBC count up (juices, vitamins). It's hard to talk to him and he doesn't want to eat probably because he's in extensive pain. Looking in as an outsider is difficult at best and I find myself getting on his nerves.

My Stepmom Rhonda was diagnosed ten years ago with Breast Cancer and she Carries the Braca II gene and survived for ten years with no reoccurances, but about ten months ago she was diagnosed with Pancreatic Cancer after a year of pain in her side, because the doctors waited so long she is now inoperable and is choosing to do a lesser chemo, but her liver levels are rising. How did you make ten years; is there a chemo that you tried that will not make my mother bedridden and will keep her on her feet longer? Thanks.

I am so happy for you Peggy. My Mom was diagnosed on March 25, 2011, and nothing has been done to treat her cancer. We were recently told that it has spread and the only option for her is palliative care. She never even had the chance to fight. Were you ever told that there was nothing that could be done for you?

Hello Peggy,
My mother had whipple surgery for pancreatic cancer almost 5 months ago. After the surgery she started taking chemotherapy sessions. She took 8 cycles.Today she had PET scan done. It shows, "Soft tissue density lesion on the superior surface of the celiac artery of concern for metastaic deposit.
necrotic lymph nodes in the anterior prihepatic space and retroperitoneum likely representing
metastatic versus inflammatory/infectious etiology".
These 8 cycles of Chemo did not work at all. What will happen next? I'm scared..
I need my mom to live at least for another 5 to 10 years.
Is there any other ways to cure this and get rid of this lesion.
