Our Goal
Giving people the information and help they need to effectively prevent, detect and treat cancer. Cancer Resource Center was opened in 1996 in order to provide a convenient, comfortable place where people can learn about cancer prevention, detection and treatment. Staffed by concerned health care professionals who answer questions, provide education and recommend additional resources for further learning, Cancer Resource Center is an exceptional support center for cancer patients.
Services
Personalized cancer information
Cancer Resource Center offers a variety of ways to learn about cancer and provides easy access to the latest news about cancer research and treatment options. An understanding and compassionate staff helps patients and family members select the most useful materials from an expansive library containing medical reference books, books authored by physicians, cancer survivors and other health care professionals. Numerous self-help publications are also available. Staff will conduct searches for news and information about cancer or visitors may perform their own searches using Cancer Resource Center’s connection to the Internet.
Promoting prevention and early detection
Each month, Cancer Resource Center offers free screenings designed to aid in the early detection of cancer and other chronic health problems. In addition, a variety of health care professionals visit Cancer Resource Center each week to conduct health lifestyle lectures and demonstrations.
Mammography
To assist in the early detection of breast cancer, mammograms are performed on-site in a state-of-the-art mammography suite accredited by the American College of Radiology. Mammography results are interpreted by a board-certified radiologist and results are reported to both the patient and her physician. Daytime, evening and weekend appointments are available. CRC offers mammograms at the low price of $79.
Nutritional Counseling
Cancer Resource Center is proud to offer nutritional strategies designed to stimulate your immune system and to lessen the side effects of treatment for individuals who desire to take an active role in their cancer treatment. Our nutrition specialist attempts to combine vitamins, minerals and herbal extracts with a therapeutic diet to promote anti-cancer defenses. Your nutritional program will be tailored to meet your individual biochemical needs and will be based on your medical history, dietary habits, cancer type and treatment protocol.
Our program director Kim Dalzell holds a PhD in holistic nutrition and is a registered, licensed dietitian who specializes in vitamin and herbal therapies for cancer patients. She has more than ten years of clinical oncology experience, offering patients and their families sound advice and realistic health goals. In addition to numerous media appearances and keynote presentations, Kim Dalzell is the author of Challenge Cancer and Win!, a book that provides diet and vitamin recommendations for specific cancers.
