One radiation therapy option for pancreatic cancer is three-dimensional (3D) conformal radiation therapy. Three-dimensional conformal radiation therapy uses computed tomography (CT) planning to image and reconstruct the tumor and surrounding pancreatic tissue in three dimensions.
Using this innovative radiation technique, CTCA radiation oncologists can shape multiple radiation beams exactly to the contour of the treatment area. Because the radiation beams are precisely focused, this technique helps to spare nearby normal pancreatic tissue.
