Experience CTCA

Through A Survivor’s Eyes

Lori Shares Her Experience

It didn’t take long for ovarian cancer survivor Lori to discover that CTCA was true to its word.

Ovarian cancer survivors at Cancer Treatment Centers of America (CTCA) have a story to tell. In this section, you will read the personal accounts of ovarian cancer survivors who came to CTCA and found a comprehensive approach to ovarian cancer treatment. Their stories are ones of courage, determination and hope.

What is Ovarian Cancer?

Ovarian cancer is cancer that forms in tissues of the ovary. The ovaries are the pair of female reproductive glands on each side of the uterus in which eggs (called ova) are produced. Ovaries are the main source of a woman’s female hormones, estrogen and progesterone. Nearly nine out of 10 ovarian cancers are ovarian epithelial carcinomas (cancer that begins in the cells on the surface of the ovary). Another type of ovarian cancer is malignant germ cell tumors (cancer that begins in egg cells). About one in 20 ovarian cancers are germ cell tumors.

Lori Warchol

Ovarian Cancer Survivor Lori Warchol

The brochure, distributed by Cancer Treatment Centers of America at Midwestern Regional Medical Center in Zion, Illinois, offered a number of answers to Warchol’s questions, yet she was suspicious because the brochure entailed a treatment practice that sounded too good when compared to her own experience with the healthcare system. She took a chance and made a toll free telephone call.
