Intraperitoneal Chemotherapy for Ovarian Cancer
Intraperitoneal chemotherapy is an innovative chemotherapy technique we offer to ovarian cancer patients at Cancer Treatment Centers of America (CTCA).
Intraperitoneal chemotherapy works by delivering chemotherapy drugs directly into your abdominal cavity (also referred to as the peritoneal area) via a thin tube called a catheter.
Intraperitoneal chemotherapy directly targets the affected area with a higher concentration of anti-cancer drugs, limiting the amount reaching the rest of the body. It also allows the ovarian cancer treatment to work over a longer period of time. Intraperitoneal chemotherapy is usually administered on a three-weekly basis.
