Extreme Drug Resistance for Ovarian Cancer

At Cancer Treatment Centers of America (CTCA), we understand ovarian cancer affects each patient differently. This is why we provide you with a customized ovarian cancer treatment plan tailored to your unique needs.

One of the innovative, and proactive, diagnostic tools we use to personalize your treatment is the Extreme Drug Resistance (EDR) Assay (or Chemoresistance). The EDR helps the cancer experts at CTCA determine whether or not you may be resistant to specific chemotherapeutic drugs.

The EDR is a highly accurate tool CTCA clinicians use to test solid ovarian tumors, outside of the body, to determine whether or not your ovarian cancer cells are able to grow in the presence of extreme exposure to a drug.  If tested ovarian cancer cells prove to be resistant to a particular anti-cancer drug in the assay, then we can safely assume your actual tumor will most likely be resistant to that drug if it is administered in the body.

The Extreme Drug Resistance Assay is a valuable way to help CTCA physicians avoid unnecessary toxicity to you, minimize costs, and allow your care team to consider other ovarian cancer treatment protocols.
