Experience CTCA

Through A Survivor’s Eyes

Lori Shares Her Experience

It didn’t take long for ovarian cancer survivor Lori to discover that CTCA was true to its word.

There are several types of ovarian cancer. The most common, epithelial carcinoma, grows on the outer surface of the ovary. Other, less common, types of ovarian cancer are germ-cell tumors and stromal tumors. Cancer cells from all three types of ovarian cancer may move into the bloodstream by way of the lymphatic system and spread to other parts of the body.

Risk Factors

While the exact cause of ovarian cancer is not known, there is evidence of a genetic predisposition to ovarian cancer. For example, if you have a first-degree relative with ovarian cancer, you are at a higher risk than those who do not have a close relative with ovarian cancer. In addition, your risk of ovarian cancer increases if more than one first-degree relative has ovarian cancer.

Fighting Ovarian Cancer

Factors such as your age, your general health, and the stage of ovarian cancer influence the type of therapies you may receive.

If you decide to come to Cancer Treatment Centers of America (CTCA), our cancer experts will work closely with you to determine an appropriate combination of treatments for you. Some ovarian cancer treatments may include surgery, intraperitoneal chemotherapy, and autologous stem cell rescue with post transplant immunotherapy.

CTCA also enriches your ovarian cancer treatment by offering complementary medicine therapies to help reduce side effects and improve your quality of life. Here, we treat the whole person, not just the ovarian cancer.
