3D Conformal Radiation for Oral Cancer
One of the innovative treatments for oral cancer radiation oncologists at Cancer Treatment Centers of America use is 3D conformal radiation therapy. This treatment utilizes computed tomography (CT) planning to image and reconstruct the tumor and surrounding oral tissue in three dimensions. Radiation oncologists and therapists can then target multiple radiation beams to the treatment area. Because in this method the radiation beams can be so precisely focused, nearby normal tissue is usually spared.
