TomoTherapy® Highly Integrated Adaptive Radiotherapy (HI-ART) is another innovative non-Hodgkin lymphoma (NHL) treatment option offered at CTCA.

The TomoTherapy HI-ART system combines an advanced form of intensity modulated radiation therapy (IMRT) with an on-board CT scanner that allows for precise targeting of the radiation beams. By targeting hard-to-reach tumors, this technology helps to spare surrounding healthy tissues and organs.

Many NHL patients who have reached their maximum tolerated dose of traditional radiation may be candidates for TomoTherapy. Because of its pinpoint accuracy, our radiation oncologists can offer TomoTherapy to re-treat previously radiated areas with high doses of radiation.

Advantages of TomoTherapy for NHL

  • The system targets difficult-to-reach lymphoma tumors by sculpting powerful and precise radiation beams at the tumors from a full 360-degrees.
  • By using built-in CT scanning to confirm the size, shape and location of a tumor before each treatment begins, TomoTherapy minimizes damage to healthy surrounding tissues.
  • During treatment, we can adjust the intensity and direction of the radiation beams in real time.
  • The “slice therapy” approach treats tumors one layer at a time, delivering variable amounts of radiation to different parts of a tumor.

Helping You Maintain Your Quality of Life

Throughout your NHL treatment, you will receive supportive therapies, such as such as nutrition therapy, naturopathic medicine, pain management, oncology rehabilitation, and mind-body medicine. These therapies can help keep you strong, avoid treatment interruptions, and improve your quality of life throughout your care.
