Mind-Body Medicine for NHL
Oftentimes, non-Hodgkin lymphoma (NHL) patients struggle emotionally with the disease and its treatment. You may feel anxious, depressed, irritable or fearful. You may also have body image, appearance and intimacy concerns. All of these stresses can impact your appetite, digestion, sleep, energy level, concentration, and relationships.
Cancer Treatment Centers of America (CTCA) offers a Mind-Body Medicine Program to help you cope with the emotional and psychological stresses of NHL. Mind-body medicine explores the influence of your mind and emotions on your body and immune system, and vice versa.
Support for You and Your Family
During your first visit to CTCA, you will have the option to meet with a licensed mind-body therapist. Your mind-body therapist will listen to your concerns and get to know you as an individual. You’ll learn about how mind-body medicine can fit into the healing process.
We also understand that your loved ones are likely dealing with their own set of concerns. All of the services of the mind-body team are available to your loved ones as well.
Mind-Body Therapies for NHL
You and/or your loved ones may decide to pursue any of the following mind-body therapies during your NHL treatment:
- Individual and family counseling sessions
- Support groups
- Relaxation and guided imagery training
- Meditation
- Stress management
- Laughter therapy
- Reiki therapy
Throughout your NHL treatment, your mind-body therapist works closely with your entire NHL care team to support you. In addition, they can connect you with qualified practitioners in your area once you return home.
