Registered dietitian Mandi Kais helps patients stay nourished and strong as they undergo cancer treatment at our hospital in northern Illinois. In June 2013, she joined our dedicated nutrition therapy team. Kais says she was drawn to Cancer Treatment Centers of America’s unique approach to patient care.

Kais provides nutrition consultations and therapy to new and returning patients. Because Kais sees her patients regularly and is a key member of their integrated care teams, she is continually involved in their care and informed of each step of their treatment. This allows her to stay on top of treatment side effects patients may have that can impact their nutritional status.

Kais takes pride in addressing the questions and needs of patients, as well as educating them about nutrition. She helps patients develop personalized nutrition plans and deals head on with issues such as unintentional loss of weight and muscle mass, in addition to treatment side effects such as nausea, decreased appetite, taste changes and difficulty swallowing.

Kais earned a bachelor’s degree in nutrition from the University of Minnesota in Minneapolis. She completed a dietetic internship at Mount Mary College in Milwaukee.

In her spare time, Kais plays many sports, including softball and curling. She also enjoys watching sports and cheering on the Packers, Brewers and Badgers.
