“I have wanted to be a physical therapist since I was 8 years old,” says Lauren Redig, Physical Therapist at Cancer Treatment Centers of America® (CTCA) near Chicago. “As a child, I was often at a physical therapy clinic because of various injuries I sustained. I knew then that helping others through rehabilitation was a passion I wanted to pursue.”
Redig joined CTCA® in May 2015. As a physical therapist, she provides individualized therapies to inpatients, including those in the ICU, SIU, medical oncology, PCU and stem cell units. She uses physical therapy techniques to help patients with weakness, fatigue, balance deficits and functional mobility difficulties. Redig is actively involved in discharge planning by providing recommendations and therapies for patients leaving the hospital. She also focuses on using therapeutic tools of her field to help patients through pain and improve their quality of life.
Redig completed her Bachelor of Health Sciences at Purdue University in Lafayette, Indiana. In 2014, Redig obtained a Doctor of Physical Therapy degree from Lynchburg College in Lynchburg, Virginia. Prior to joining CTCA, Redig gained experience providing school-based therapies to pediatrics. She is also a member of several associations, including the American Physical Therapy Association.
Outside of CTCA, Redig enjoys spending time with her family and dog. She also likes to read, exercise and cook.
