New Inpatient Tower
At Cancer Treatment Centers of America® (CTCA) at Midwestern Regional Medical Center (Midwestern), our new six-story inpatient tower brings quality cancer care to new heights. The tower’s patient-centered focus was inspired by our patients and influenced by their extensive input. It is designed to deliver quality, personalized care in a convenient and peaceful setting while enhancing patient safety through standardization and infection prevention. Opened in November 2015, the tower includes 72 private rooms and, coming soon, 48 guest quarters, allowing us to deliver the Mother Standard® of care to more people.
Our spacious inpatient rooms are built for patient privacy, safety and comfort. Each comes equipped with a refrigerator, recliner, sleeper sofa, family work station, wood-finished cabinets with ample storage room and other carefully chosen amenities. All the tower’s floors feature a tranquility room, complete with a fireplace, as well as a renewal room, with a massage chair and therapeutic sights and sounds. On the second floor, next to our expanded salon, patients in the lounge can try their hand at the player piano on the balcony, with views overlooking the lobby. In June 2016, the tower’s top two floors will open, featuring onsite guest rooms, as wells as an activity room and a children’s play room for patients and their families.
The 168,078-square-foot tower was designed not just for CTCA® patients, but at their direction, too. Our patients and Cancer Fighters® offered in-depth input on how the building should look and feel, selecting the colors and furniture throughout the facility, as well as the bed linens and custom-designed hospital gowns.
We’ve also added other signature features to enhance the patient experience, including:
