Dr. Patricia Thompson hails from sunny Tampa, where she completed her fellowship in hematology-oncology at the University of South Florida, H. Lee Moffitt Cancer Center & Research Institute. She joined our compassionate team of care providers at CTCA at Midwestern Regional Medical Center in 2006.
Dr. Thompson completed her residency in internal medicine at University of Miami/Jackson Memorial Hospital. She attended medical school at the University of Miami, where she received several awards, including Outstanding Medical Student of the Year 2000 for Excellence in Internal Medicine. She received her bachelor’s degree from the University of South Florida, where she graduated cum laude.
Dr. Thompson, who is board certified in internal medicine, has published on the subject of metastatic renal cancer in the prestigious Journal of the National Comprehensive Cancer Network. In addition, she has conducted research on a number of cancers, including malignant melanoma, advanced renal cell carcinoma and basal cell and squamous cell carcinomas. She also spent a year researching immunotherapy.
In 2005, she received the Foundation Merit Award from the American Society of Clinical Oncology.
Dr. Thompson was born in Buenos Aires, Argentina and is fluent in Spanish. She has three children. In her spare time, she enjoys the high-speed thrills of performance driving and autocross.
