Cancer Treatment Centers of America (CTCA) has long been on Kristin Stiles Green’s “radar.” In 1999, the naturopathic practitioner accepted the invitation of Tim Birdsall, ND, FABNO and Vice President of Integrative Medicine, to visit CTCA at Midwestern Regional Medical Center for a week of clinical observation. Stiles Green was so impressed by everything she saw and experienced, she immediately became an advocate of CTCA.

“For years, I referred many cancer patients to CTCA,” she says. “I encouraged them to investigate all of their treatment options by looking into CTCA, which I felt was the only place where people could get a truly comprehensive approach to cancer care.”

In 2008, Stiles Green was invited back to CTCA at Midwestern Regional Medical Center to head up the hospital’s Naturopathic Medicine Department. She says she found the opportunity to work on an integrated team of oncologists and complementary medicine practitioners irresistible.

As Director of Naturopathic Medicine, she helps the hospital’s team of naturopathic providers work as effectively and efficiently as possible. Her role also entails overseeing the naturopathic residency program, which involves daily, weekly and monthly meetings with residents to make certain they are fulfilling the objectives of the program and reaching milestones.

Stiles Green also regularly meets with patients. She provides evidence-based recommendations for natural therapies, such as dietary supplements and homeopathic remedies, to help improve their quality of life during treatment. She researches to ensure that the therapies she advises are safe and appropriate to pair with each patient’s conventional treatment.

Stiles Green believes that leading by example is one of the best ways she can inspire hope, motivation and confidence in her patients. After all, as she says, she and her patients are partners in the mission for health and healing.

“My focus as a clinician has always been to practice what I preach,” she emphasizes. “I am not just someone who ‘talks the talk.’ I ‘walk the walk.’ I am actually living the healthy lifestyle I help my patients learn how to live. And because I live that way, I am able to offer simple, practical ideas on how to make those lifestyle changes.”

She also takes pride in the fact that she does not ask her patients to try therapies she herself hasn’t tried.

Stiles Green earned a Doctor of Naturopathic Medicine degree from the National College of Naturopathic Medicine in Portland, Oregon. She completed a bachelor’s of arts degree in psychology at Binghamton University in Binghamton, New York. She also attended Flinders University in Adelaide, South Australia.

Prior to joining CTCA, she served as a naturopathic doctor and Director of Nutrition at LifeSpan Medicine in Santa Monica, California. She also ran private naturopathic practices for nearly 10 years in New York and Pennsylvania. She practiced naturopathic medicine at Complementary Medicine & Healing Arts in Vestal, New York and at the Center for Integrative Medicine in Clarks Summit, Pennsylvania.
