As a staff naturopath at Cancer Treatment Centers of America (CTCA) at Midwestern Regional Medical Center, Irina Sparks practices holistic medicine in an effort to bring wellness to patients and improve their quality of life. She believes that optimizing the body’s own resources can aid in the process of healing.

Sparks utilizes natural approaches that assist in the process of fighting cancer. She integrates these approaches with the conventional treatments CTCA oncologists provide. Because of her extensive knowledge of naturopathic medicine and oncology, Sparks is able to offer safe, appropriate recommendations tailored to each patient. The naturopathic therapies she suggests help to minimize side effects of traditional treatment, enhance immunity and support normal metabolism.

In 2003, Sparks earned a Doctor of Naturopathic Medicine degree from the National College of Natural Medicine in Portland. She focused her studies on naturopathic midwifery and women’s health. After receiving her doctorate, Sparks completed a two-year naturopathic residency in naturopathic family medicine and naturopathic oncology at Goshen General Hospital in Goshen, Indiana.

Before pursuing a naturopathic medicine degree, Sparks studied medicine at Tashkent Medical School in Uzbekistan and earned a bachelor’s of science degree in biology from Portland State University.

Prior to joining CTCA in 2007, Sparks served as a naturopathic and clinical care provider at Fairhaven Obstetrics & Gynecology, Inc. in Goshen, Indiana.

Sparks is fluent in Russian. In her spare time, she enjoys cooking.
