As Medical Director of Radiation Oncology at Cancer Treatment Centers of America (CTCA) at Midwestern Regional Medical Center, Dr. Bernard Eden is excited by what his team can offer patients—advanced technology within a collaborative and caring environment.

Board certified in radiation oncology, Dr. Eden earned a medical degree from the University of Virginia School of Medicine in Charlottesville, Virginia, followed by an internship at Carilion Roanoke Memorial Hospital in Roanoke, Virginia.

He subsequently completed a radiation oncology residency at the University of Virginia Health Sciences Center, where he was named Chief Resident in his fourth year. Dr. Eden also completed a clinical oncology fellowship through the American Cancer Society. He holds a bachelor’s degree in chemistry from Duke University in Durham, North Carolina.

Prior to joining CTCA in 2002, Dr. Eden served as Director of Radiation Oncology at Cleveland Regional Medical Center in Shelby, North Carolina (affiliated with Southeast Radiation Oncology Group, P.A.). Before then, he spent five years with Piedmont Radiation Oncology, Inc. in Danville, Virginia.

In addition, Dr. Eden has coauthored articles in various medical journals, including Applied Radiology, Radiology and Cancer. In 1993, he presented to the American Radium Society on the topic esthesioneuroblastoma.

Dr. Eden is a member of several professional organizations, including the American Society of Therapeutic Radiation and Oncology and the American College of Radiology, for which he is a Site Surveyor. Dr. Eden is also on the Item Writing Task Force of the American Board of Radiology for Recertification. He is a member of the Alpha Omega Alpha Medical Honor Society.
