Your radiation oncologist will diagnose your disease and determine which treatments have the greatest potential. Once your radiation oncologist has generated an idea of how he wants to treat the cancer, he collaborates with a medical physicist and dosimetrist to plan your radiation therapy. The physicist analyzes the location of your tumor and plans every precise angle and target where the radiation needs to strike. The dosimetrist then calculates the dose of radiation you’ll receive.
When your treatment plan is ready to be implemented, your radiation therapists coordinate and administer your treatment. These trained medical professionals operate the machines and high-tech programs that deliver your radiation therapy and monitor you closely as you undergo treatment.
