Comfort, Encouragement & Support Throughout Your Fight
“Patients really like the fact that we spend so much time with them,” says Dr. Williams. “We take the time to explain the different therapies.”
Sometimes, patients fear undergoing chemotherapy. But, be assured, Dr. Williams explains the treatment in great detail. Oftentimes, she helps such patients get through their first chemotherapy infusion. She offers support and encouragement, listening to patients and asking them to communicate their feelings and fears. A cancer survivor herself, Dr. Williams is sympathetic and willing to talk about her own experiences fighting cancer, as well.
Dr. Williams encourages patients to bring a caregiver or family member with them to appointments.
She says, “I think it can be hard to hear things when you’re frightened. It can be good to have a second set of ears. I also encourage patients to write down their questions and bring them to each visit so that we can be sure to address them.”
