Much like the experiences that inspired Richard J Stephenson to establish Cancer Treatment Centers of America (CTCA), nurse practitioner Frances Anerino turned her frustration with the inadequate cancer care her grandmother received into a lifelong mission to provide superior care to cancer patients.
For more than 25 years, Anerino has cared for patients as though they were members of her family. Thus, when she discovered CTCA in 2008, where we have always treated our patients with the same respect and compassion we extend to our own loved ones, it was the perfect match.
As a nurse practitioner, Anerino has a completed graduate-level education in nursing and undergone extensive clinical training. She earned a master of science degree from Old Dominion University in Norfolk, Virginia to become a family nurse practitioner. Prior to that, she graduated from Loyola University in New Orleans with a bachelor of science degree in nursing.
She is certified as a family nurse practitioner by the American Nurses Credentialing Center.
Anerino assists Dr. Robert Levin, Chief of Medical Oncology at CTCA at Midwestern Regional Medical Center, providing healthcare counseling and education; obtaining patients’ medical histories; performing physical examinations; ordering and interpreting lab and imaging tests; writing orders for chemotherapy; and, prescribing medication to treat symptoms and side effects. She also helps to coordinate the care of patients while they are at home.
Previously, Anerino served as a nurse practitioner at Delta Hematology/Oncology in Portsmouth, Virginia. She also garnered significant experience as an oncology staff nurse at Sentara Healthcare Hospital in Norfolk, Virginia and Harrison Hospital in Bremerton, Washington.
