Stacy Palumbo says what drew her to Cancer Treatment Centers of America at Midwestern Regional Medical Center was more than an opportunity to help patients fight cancer. It was being able to treat those patients as if they were family.
The registered and licensed dietitian joined the hospital’s nutrition team in September 2010.
Palumbo loves being part of a multidisciplinary care team that includes a medical oncologist, naturopathic oncology provider, care manager, and registered nurse. She says everyone works together with one goal in mind—patient care and satisfaction.
“Our Patient Empowered Care® model allows me to build lasting relationships with my patients and their caregivers,” says Palumbo. “This enables me to provide them with individualized nutritional plans to help them manage their symptoms and get through treatment.”
She assesses patients for nutritional risks and helps manage treatment side effects by providing personalized recommendations contingent upon evidenced-based research to help improve their quality of life.
Palumbo received a bachelor’s degree in education from the University of Dayton, where she also played NCAA Division 1 collegiate soccer for four years. She went on to earn a master’s degree in nutritional sciences from the University of Cincinnati and complete a dietetic internship at Kettering Medical Center in Kettering, Ohio.
In her downtime, she loves spending time with her family and friends, playing soccer, traveling, and running.
