Kala Bailey, RD, LD, LPC
Clinical Oncology Dietitian

Since January 1997, registered and licensed dietitian Kala Bailey has been a member of the team at Cancer Treatment Centers of America (CTCA) at Midwestern Regional Medical Center. As a clinical oncology dietitian, she helps cancer patients stay nourished and strong, and helps them deal with side effects of treatment.

Bailey provides a nutrition assessment to each patient she meets with, and creates a personalized nutritional plan based on the results of the assessment. Then, she works with patients to implement their nutritional plans. Throughout their cancer treatment, she provides ongoing nutrition support and guidance.

Bailey notes, “Sometimes dietitians are viewed as ‘food police’ who take away people’s favorite foods. But I educate patients about nutrition and listen to them.”

She adds, “For example, if I am working with inpatients, I do my best to help them find things they want to eat when they don’t feel like eating.”

Bailey received a bachelor’s degree in food and nutrition from Western Illinois University in Macomb, Illinois. She earned a master’s degree in counseling from National-Louis University.

In her spare time, Bailey loves to read and be with her friends and family. She also loves to walk her two dogs, Phoebe and Toby.
