"At Cancer Treatment Centers of America, the totality of the patient is considered. Patient care goes beyond merely treating the disease to include dietary considerations, stress-reduction techniques and spiritual care, among other therapies."
Erik Boudreau, ND
Naturopathic Oncology Provider
“I always wanted to help people,” says Erik Boudreau, a naturopathic oncology provider at Cancer Treatment Centers of America (CTCA) at Midwestern Regional Medical Center. “After learning that naturopathy constituted its own distinct branch of medicine, I knew I found my path.”
Boudreau believes in putting patients at the center of their healthcare. He feels patients must be comfortable with their treatment plans and confident that their voices will be heard.
He says, “It is important to educate patients, helping them understand not only what is happening with their bodies, but also the body’s reactions to what is happening.”
Boudreau says there must be mutual trust and respect for the doctor-patient relationship to attain the greatest value. The responsibility for the patient’s care lies equally in the hands of the medical doctors, other clinical care team members, the patients and their caregivers.
Boudreau earned a doctorate degree in naturopathic medicine from the Canadian College of Naturopathic Medicine in Toronto, Ontario and bachelor of arts degrees in psychology and anthropology from McMaster University in Hamilton, Ontario.
Boudreau is a member of the American Association of Naturopathic Physicians, Oncology Association of Naturopathic Physicians and the Illinois Association of Naturopathic Physicians.
Prior to CTCA, Boudreau and his wife Vanessa Lee (who is also a naturopathic oncology provider) owned and practiced in a busy naturopathic clinic in downtown Toronto. They applied skills and knowledge in natural therapies such as traditional Chinese medicine, acupuncture, nutrition, botanical medicine and homeopathy.
Boudreau is a certified personal trainer and author of a fitness book. Outside of CTCA, Boudreau enjoys creative writing, exercising, traveling and learning new languages.
