“Cancer Treatment Centers of America is a unique place where I am able to provide research-based naturopathic medicine in a hospital setting to patients who need it most,” says Debrah Harding.

Harding is a naturopathic oncology provider at Cancer Treatment Centers of America (CTCA) at Midwestern Regional Medical Center in Zion, Illinois. She joined the hospital’s team of integrated care providers in November 2010. Harding works side by side with an oncologist, in addition to a registered and licensed dietitian, registered nurse, and care manager.

“I am thrilled with how naturopathic care is integrated into the whole model of oncology care at CTCA,” adds Harding. “This integrated model benefits the patients and healthcare providers alike. I have yet to see this at any other hospital.”

Harding does everything she can to help patients maintain their quality of life throughout cancer treatment. She says, “We do our best to minimize side effects from treatment using various natural medicine modalities. The therapies can make a difference in patients’ ability to tolerate and maintain treatment.”

Harding graduated with a bachelor of arts degree in environmental studies from Richard Stockton College of New Jersey in Pomona, New Jersey. She earned a doctorate degree in naturopathic medicine from the National College of Natural Medicine in Portland, Oregon.

Prior to her position at CTCA, Harding served patients at a natural health clinic she founded in Marlton, New Jersey. She also gained experience as a naturopathic medicine provider at a natural medicine clinic in Frederick, Maryland and an integrated medical clinic in Portland, Oregon.

Harding has taught naturopathic, nursing and osteopathic medical students for the University of Medicine & Dentistry of New Jersey, University of Pennsylvania and National College of Natural Medicine.

In her free time, Harding loves being with her husband and golden-doodle dog. They enjoy exploring the beautiful nature preserves of northern Illinois.
