"This is such a patient-centered healthcare facility. Everyone, from the chauffeurs to the guest quarters staff to the healthcare workers, is doing their part to address our patients’ needs."

Aroop Banerji, ND, LAc
Naturopathic Oncology Provider

“Having cancer is taxing on the patient on so many levels—mentally, emotionally, physically, nutritionally, spiritually, and financially,” says naturopathic oncology provider Aroop Banerji. “You need a whole-person approach to address these different stressors, and Cancer Treatment Centers of America does an amazing job.”

Banerji joined the integrated team of cancer experts at Cancer Treatment Centers of America (CTCA) at Midwestern Regional Medical Center in January 2011. As a key member of many of our patients’ care teams, he provides safe, evidence-based recommendations for herbal medicine, vitamins, minerals, and other nutraceuticals that can help improve patients’ quality of life during cancer treatment.

Banerji is empathetic to patients’ needs. He spends time with his patients and their loved one to educate them about natural therapies and wellness so they become empowered to take steps to improve their health.

Banerji says something that’s impressed him from the start of his tenure at the hospital is that the medical doctors are open-minded to the utilization of complementary/alternative medicine in conjunction with conventional medicine. He notes, “It’s such a team environment at CTCA. Everyone functions independently yet supports each other like a harmonious orchestra.”

Banerji earned a doctorate degree in naturopathic medicine and a master of science degree in acupuncture from Bastyr University in Kenmore, Washington. He received a bachelor of science degree in environmental toxicology from the University of California, Davis. He also received a diploma in massage from the Brenneke School of Massage in Seattle.

A Fellow of the International Academy of Medical Acupuncture, Banerji is certified by the National Certification Commission for Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine. He belongs to the American Association of Naturopathic Physicians and the Illinois Association of Naturopathic Physicians.

Prior to CTCA, Banerji served in roles as a naturopathic clinician and acupuncturist at The Retreat Women’s Health Center in Goshen, Indiana; Elkhart General Hospital in Elkhart, Indiana; and at an integrated care center in Chicago, Illinois.
