Dr. Katherine Puckett and Dr. Gerald Ellison explain how Cancer Treatment Centers of America integrates mind-body medicine into cancer treatment plans and how this can benefit patients.
Mind-Body Medicine for Melanoma Cancer
At Cancer Treatment Centers of America (CTCA), we believe in comprehensively addressing all of your needs – body, mind and spirit – as you go through treatment for melanoma cancer.
You may be worried about the side effects of treatment. Your family or caregivers may have their own set of concerns and emotions. Our Mind-Body Medicine program is designed to complement other conventional melanoma cancer treatments. The program offers a range of individual and group learning opportunities to help patients and their loved ones explore how emotional, mental, social, spiritual and behavioral factors can directly affect the healing process.
We offer a wide variety of activities, classes and relaxation therapies to reduce stress and improve quality of life. Services available to patients, caregivers and their families include:
- Individual and relationship counseling sessions
- Cancer support groups
- Relaxation and guided imagery training
- Deep breathing training
- Stress management
- Laughter therapy
- Qigong
- Reiki therapy
Our mind-body therapists work closely with your entire melanoma cancer care team and are here to support you in making ongoing care decisions. In addition, they can connect you with qualified practitioners and cancer support groups in your area once you return home.
