Melanoma Treatment: Metronomic Chemotherapy
Metronomic chemotherapy has been used as a treatment for melanoma at Cancer Treatment Centers of America (CTCA) for a number of years. Recognized for its ability to reduce side effects of nausea and vomiting, metronomic chemotherapy delivers smaller doses of chemotherapy drugs over a longer period of time. Traditional methods, on the other hand, typically deliver chemotherapy in a single, large dose. By dividing your total chemotherapy dose into smaller, more tolerable amounts administered over a period of three to five days, we believe it may work against the melanoma cells for a longer period of time, as well.
