Intratumoral chemotherapy for lung cancer

What is intratumoral chemotherapy?

Intratumoral chemotherapy is an innovative non-small cell lung cancer treatment we are pioneering at Cancer Treatment Centers of America (CTCA) at Southwestern Regional Medical Center (Southwestern).

In 2005, Dr. Daniel Nader, DO, FCCP, our National Clinical Director of Pulmonary/Critical Care, began a research study to improve the quality of life for lung cancer patients with airway blockage problems. His ongoing study looks at the effectiveness of Cisplatin, a chemotherapy drug, when injected directly into a lung tumor, then followed by HDR brachytherapy.
