Laryngeal Cancer Treatment: Fractionated-Dose Chemotherapy
Fractionated-dose chemotherapy helps reduce side effects of laryngeal cancer treatment by more gently introducing chemotherapy drugs into your body. Offered at Cancer Treatment Centers of America (CTCA) for a number of years, fractionated-dose chemotherapy breaks the total dose of your chemotherapy into smaller amounts administered over a longer period of time. In conventional chemotherapy treatments for laryngeal cancer, the anticancer drugs are given in one large dose. However, larger doses can bring about adverse reactions, including nausea and vomiting.
By breaking up the course of your chemotherapy into smaller, more manageable amounts, we believe that chemotherapy drugs can work against laryngeal cancer cells for a longer period of time, while reducing many unpleasant side effects.
