Laryngeal Cancer: Extreme Drug Resistance Assay
The Extreme Drug Resistance (EDR) Assay (or Chemoresistance) helps the cancer doctors at Cancer Treatment Centers of America (CTCA) determine whether or not certain types of chemotherapy drugs may be able to effectively treat laryngeal cancer.
A highly accurate test for solid laryngeal cancer tumors, EDR tests whether a particular tumor may be resistant to specific chemo drugs. By testing laryngeal tumor cells to see if they grow in the presence of extreme exposure to a drug, our doctors can then predict how a tumor growing in a patient’s body is likely to respond to that drug. With this valuable information, physicians at CTCA can avoid unnecessary toxicity, minimize costs for the patient and consider other protocols for laryngeal cancer treatment.
