Oncology Rehabilitation for Kidney Cancer
Kidney cancer and its treatment can affect your physical abilities. The oncology rehabilitation team at Cancer Treatment Centers of America (CTCA) helps you build strength and endurance, and maintain the energy you need to participate in activities that are important to you throughout your kidney cancer treatment.
When you first come to CTCA, you will meet with an oncology rehabilitation specialist to assess your physical ability. During this assessment, your rehabilitation specialist will evaluate your needs and provide a personalized rehabilitation plan tailored to your specific needs. This may include one or more of the following therapies:
Physical Therapy
Maintaining your physical strength is important while undergoing kidney cancer treatment. Your physical therapist will provide you with an exercise plan specifically designed to address your needs and issues. This may consist of range of motion exercises or resistance training.
Occupational Therapy
Your occupational therapist will help you with day-to-day tasks such as getting dressed and staying on schedule. Their goal is to help you maintain your independence and ease your transition back home.
Speech and Language Pathology
Your speech and language pathologist can address side effects, such as dry mouth or difficulty swallowing, as a result of treatment.

Massage therapy can help reduce stress and alleviate pain associated with your kidney cancer treatment, to support your overall health and well-being.
Acupuncture
Our acupuncturists ease common side effects of kidney cancer treatment by placing thin needles on specific places on the body, helping to circulate blood flow and improve relaxation.
Auriculotherapy
Auriculotherapy is a type of acupuncture that uses electricity in place of needles. Using a special device, your rehabilitation therapist will stimulate certain points on the surface of your ear. These points correspond to specific parts of your body.
