Mind-Body Medicine for Kidney Cancer
At Cancer Treatment Centers of America (CTCA), we understand that a kidney cancer diagnosis can cause anxiety and stress for you and your caregiver(s). We believe in treating the whole person, and we support you in body, mind and spirit.
Every patient has the opportunity to meet with a mind-body therapist. During this meeting, you have the opportunity to share any challenges you are experiencing and learn about the cancer support groups and programs we offer.
We provide individual, couples and family counseling to support you during treatment. You and your mind-body practitioner will share an open and totally confidential dialogue about challenges related to cancer or other areas of your life. Caregivers may also meet with a mind-body therapist. At CTCA, we believe it is important that caregivers are given the emotional tools they need to support their loved ones.
You may also participate in a variety of kidney cancer support groups. These counseling sessions are dedicated to specific topics and provide an open forum to share your experiences with other caregivers and patients.
We offer additional therapeutic services to help you reduce stress and improve quality of life. Just a few of the kidney cancer counseling programs available include:
- Guided imagery
- Deep breathing exercises
- Qigong
- Laughter therapy
- Reiki therapy
- Animal-assisted therapy
Our mind-body therapists work closely with your entire cancer treatment team and are here to support you in making ongoing care decisions. In addition, they can connect you with qualified cancer support groups and practitioners in your area once you return home.
