A Survivor's Story
Of Hope and Healing
Nicole Shares Her ExperienceWhen she came to CTCA, breast cancer survivor Nicole found hope and healing.
If you have been diagnosed with inflammatory breast cancer, it is important that you receive treatment as soon as possible. Inflammatory breast cancer is a rare form of breast cancer. If it is discovered and treated early, the survival rate for inflammatory breast cancer increases.
What is Inflammatory Breast Cancer?
Inflammatory breast cancer is a rare, advanced form of breast cancer, accounting for only about two percent of breast cancers. It is usually not detected by mammograms or ultrasounds.
Unlike other forms of breast cancer, inflammatory breast cancer does not usually grow as a solid tumor. Instead, it is characterized by breast cancer cells that block the lymph vessels in the skin of the breast. Inflammatory breast cancer may cause the breast to become red, swollen and warm.
