What Is Hodgkin's Disease?
Hodgkin's disease, also known as Hodgkin’s lymphoma, develops from lymphocytes (white blood cells responsible for immunity) in the lymphatic system. There are two general types of lymphomas: non-Hodgkin’s lymphoma and Hodgkin’s lymphoma.
Specific lymphocytes are essentially what make these two types of lymphomas different. Hodgkin’s lymphoma is marked by an abnormal, B-lymphocyte known as the Reed-Sternberg cell.
