Fractionated Dose Chemotherapy for Hodgkin's Disease
Cancer Treatment Centers of America (CTCA) has been offering fractionated dose chemotherapy as a treatment option for Hodgkin’s disease for several years. Fractionated dose chemotherapy may help minimize some of the side effects normally associated with traditional chemotherapy treatments.
Fractionated dose chemotherapy differs from conventional chemotherapy in the way it is administered. In conventional chemotherapy, anti-cancer drugs are administered in a single, large dose. In fractionated dose chemotherapy, dosages are broken into smaller amounts and administered over a period of three to five days.
Thus, fractionated dose chemotherapy may help to work against cancerous Hodgkin’s disease cells for a longer period of time. This may also help to reduce some of the unpleasant treatment-related side effects (e.g., nausea, vomiting) and make your overall chemotherapy treatment more tolerable.
