Zometa® - The trade name for zoledronic acid, Zometa® is a drug used to treat cancer patients who are experiencing side effects of bone pain and/or hypercalcemia (high levels of calcium in the blood). Zometa® can be used together with other drugs to treat multiple myeloma. Zometa® can also be used to help prevent the risk of broken bones and skeletal fractures. A bisphosphonate, Zometa® belongs to a class of drugs which inhibit osteoclast action and bone resorption.
