Transfusion

Transfusion - The transfer, or infusion, of blood or blood products into the bloodstream. The blood may have been taken from the person earlier and stored, or donated from another person. Blood transfusions can help replace blood lost due to surgery or other treatments. Blood transfusions are normally performed via an intravenous (IV) line inserted into the vein.
