Surgical Oncology - A branch of surgical practice which uses surgical methods for cancer diagnosis (e.g., biopsy), treatment (e.g., surgical resection of tumors), and relief of symptoms (e.g., palliative surgery). Surgical oncologists are doctors who specialize in performing surgical procedures to treat cancer. Surgical oncology, medical oncology, and radiation oncology are three primary disciplines of clinical oncology.
