Spinal Tap - A procedure in which a thin needle is inserted into the base of the spine in order to either collect cerebrospinal fluid (CSF), or to deliver medication, such as anesthesia. Analyzing cerebrospinal fluid can help aid in cancer diagnosis and treatment. Also called a lumbar puncture, or LP.
