Spinal Cord Cancer Treatment - Spinal cord cancer treatment varies, depending on the size and location of the tumor, the stage of the disease, whether the tumor is primary or metastatic, and other factors unique to each patient. For smaller spinal cord tumors located in less sensitive areas, surgery may be performed to remove as much of the tumor (and preserve neurological function) as possible. If the tumor has spread (metastasized) to the spine from another site in the body, radiation therapy and/or chemotherapy may be recommended. Many spinal cord cancers are treated with a combination of therapies.
