Small Cell Lung Cancer Treatment - Small cell lung cancer treatment options vary, depending on patient-specific factors, such as cancer type, stage, location of metastasis, and more. Chemotherapy and/or radiation therapy are common forms of treatment for small cell lung cancer. Surgery (e.g., lobectomy, segmentectomy/wedge resection, pneumonectomy) may also be used if the cancer is found in one lung only. However, since small cell lung cancer tends to spread rapidly throughout the body and infect both lungs, surgery is a less common option. In some instances, surgery may be used to help relieve the symptoms of small cell lung cancer.
