Secondary Cancer - Cancer which has spread (metastasized) from the primary (original) site to other area(s) of the body. Tumors formed from cells that have spread are called secondary tumors. Cancer is often staged, or classified, according to tumor location, and whether or not it is a primary or secondary cancer. Because secondary cancers are more prevalent throughout the body, they can be more difficult to treat than primary cancers. Also known as metastatic cancer.
