Prostate Cancer Treatment - Prostate cancer treatment options vary, based on several factors, such as tumor size and location, cancer stage, the patient's age and overall health, and more. For those in the early stages of prostate cancer, or for men who are significantly older, watchful waiting (close monitoring of the patient's condition) may be the initial recommendation. Otherwise, surgery (e.g., transurethral resection of the prostate (TURP), radical prostatectomy, pelvic lymphadenectomy) is a common prostate cancer treatment option. Other therapies used in prostate cancer treatment may include radiation therapy (e.g., brachytherapy), hormone therapy, and/or chemotherapy.
