Non-Small Cell Cancer - One of the two main types of lung cancer (the other being small cell lung cancer). Non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC) begins in the tissues of the lung and comprises approximately 80 percent of all lung cancers. Non-small cell cancers are classified according to cell size and type. The three main types of non-small cell lung cancer are squamous cell carcinoma, adenocarcinoma, and large cell (undifferentiated) carcinoma. Exposure to tobacco is the most common risk factor for non-small cell cancer.
