Nexavar® - The trade name for sorafenib, Nexavar® is an oral chemotherapy drug. Nexavar® is used for the treatment of advanced renal cell carcinoma (RCC), or kidney cancer, and unresectable hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC), or liver cancer. A multikinase inhibitor, Nexavar® works by targeting two specific receptors, RAF kinase and VEGF receptors, which are responsible for cell division and growth, and angiogenesis (the development of new blood vessels). Thus, Nexavar® interferes with cell communication to help prevent tumor growth.
