Neutrophil - A type of white blood cell. Neutrophils work to engulf and kill foreign microorganisms, and play an important role in fighting disease and infection. A low neutrophil count (or neutropenia) makes an individual more susceptible to infection. It can also indicate the presence of diseases, like cancer, in the body.
