Myelosuppression - Decreased bone marrow activity that leads to lower blood cell counts (including red blood cells, white blood cells, and platelets). In turn, myelosuppression can result in anemia, increased risk of infection, or bleeding tendencies. Myelosuppression may occur as a side effect of some cancer treatments, such as chemotherapy and radiation therapy. Myeloablation is a severe form of myelosuppression.
