Mesothelioma Treatment - Mesothelioma treatment varies, depending on whether it is pleural mesothelioma (in the lungs), peritoneal mesothelioma (in the abdomen), or a different form of cancer occurring elsewhere in the mesothelial tissue. Treatment options may also depend on cancer stage, tumor size and location, and other factors. Surgery (e.g., debulking) may be used as a mesothelioma treatment to either remove affected tissue, or to help reduce symptoms, such as pleural effusion (a build up of fluid in the lungs). Various forms of chemotherapy and radiation therapy are other possible mesothelioma treatment options.
