Mammogram - An x-ray of the breast used to detect and diagnose breast cancer tumors. By producing pictures of the inside of the breasts, mammograms can locate breast cancer tumors that are too small or too deep to be found by breast examination. Mammography can help detect breast cancer in its earliest stages. Thus, mammograms are recommended as an annual screening procedure for all women above the age of 40.
