Laryngeal Cancer - The growth of cancer cells in tissues of the larynx. Located just below the pharynx (throat) in the neck, the larynx (also known as the voice box) contains the vocal cords, which vibrate to make sound. The most common form of laryngeal cancer is squamous cell carcinoma (which begins in thin, flat cells that line the surface of the larynx). Common risk factors for laryngeal cancer may include excess smoking and alcohol consumption.
